BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads have lost more ground in the West Division after dropping two of three games to the Victoria Salmon Kings last week. The team begins this week in third place behind the red-hot, first-place Alaska Aces who have a league-best 11-game winning streak, and the second-place Las Vegas Wranglers who are undefeated in their last 11 (10-0-1).

Idaho continues its five-game home stand with two contests this weekend against Utah. Friday night is the player card giveaway, and Saturday night is the Toys for Tots Marine Corp Teddy Bear Toss (fans bring a toy or buy one at the game and toss in onto the ice after the Steelheads score their first goal - all toys will be distributed to children in need by the Marine Corp).

OF NOTE:
Steelheads head coach Derek Laxdal announced four player transactions today: Center David Bararuk and defenseman Jonathan Zion were both returned to Idaho from AHL affiliate Iowa Stars, goaltender Steve Silverthorn was recalled to Iowa, and winger Garett Bembridge was loaned to AHL Syracuse.

The Idaho Steelheads Pepsi Retro Jersey Auction benefiting MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) raised $10,925. In three years, the auction has raised $38,125. The Steelheads wore one-of-a-kind jerseys inspired by their NHL and AHL affiliations at the three-game home stand against the Victoria Salmon Kings on December 7th, 9th and 10th. The throw back Minnesota North Stars jerseys, with Dallas Stars and Iowa Stars patches, were auctioned off with all proceeds going to the MDA. The North Stars played from 1967-93, then moved to Dallas and became the Dallas Stars commencing the 1993-94 season.

In addition, the NHL's Stanley Cup was on display at Qwest Arena last Wednesday evening as part of a 20-city tour to raise money and awareness for the hurricane relief efforts. The Steelheads offered fans the opportunity to have their photo taken for free with the Cup and asked for a voluntary donation to the ECHL/United Way fundraising efforts - fans donated just over $500.00 for the cause.

STEELHEADS BITES:
Team-

- Steelheads snapped a season-high, three-game losing streak with Saturday's 5-2 win
- Steelheads are 12-0-0 when scoring more than 3 goals and 7-0-0 when allowing less than 3 goals this season
- Steelheads are just 1-4-1 when leading scorer Garett Bembridge is held scoreless
- Steelheads are 6-1-1 on Saturdays
- Steelheads have out-shot their opponents in 14 of their 21 games this season

Individual-

- Forward Justin Cox had his season-long shot streak snapped in Saturday's win (20 previous games with at least one shot)

- Forward Marty Flichel is scoreless in his last four games, after being held scoreless in just 2 of the first 17 contests

- Winger Scott Burt has recorded multiple points in six of his 10 games this season, including four points in his last three games

- Captain D'Arcy McConvey has registered multiple assists in six games this season and multiple points in eight games (17 total GP)
