Royals Notes:
v The Royals' went 2-1-0 during the preceding week, bringing the team's record to 14-4-1=29, which places the team in first place in the North Division of the American Conference and translates into a .763 win percentage-the third best overall win percentage in the league.
v Last Friday, the Royals defeated the Johnstown Chiefs at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena, 7-2.
- This win was the second consecutive road victory for the Royals, giving the Reading a 5-2-1 record away from the Sovereign Center.
v In Friday's game, the Royals scored seven goals against the Chiefs, matching a season team high for goals in a single game established in the 7-4 win over the Dayton Bombers on November 11, 2005.
- The Royals scored a total of 15 goals in the three games over the past week-an average of five goals per game.
- In the team's twelve games since being shutout by the Trenton Titans on November 9, the Royals have scored a total of 60 goals-an average of 5.00 goals per game.
- In the first 19 games this season, the Royals have scored a total of 79 goals, an average of 4.16 goals per game, which is the second best in the league.
v Each one of the seven goals scored by the Royals on Friday night in Johnstown was scored by a different player.
- This game marked the sixth time this season that the Royals have scored five or more goals in a single game with each goal being scored by a different player. Although the Royals had accomplished this feat in a six goal game before-the 6-3 win over Dayton on November 18-this was the first time the team did it for seven goals.
- The Royals also got four goals from four different players in Saturday's 4-3 win over Long Beach.
v The Royals' defense allowed two goals in Friday's win in Johnstown, marking the tenth time this season Reading has held the opposition to two goals or less.
- The five goals given up by the Royals in the 5-4 loss to Long Beach on Sunday tied a season high for goals against Reading's defense in regulation time. (The Royals also allowed five goals in regulation to the Wheeling Nailers on October 28-and the Nailers ultimately beat the Royals in a shootout, 6-5.)
- Over the course of the season, the Royals have allowed a total of 49 goals against, which translates into a team goals against average of 2.58-third best in the league.
v The Royals' first goal on Friday night was scored by Greg Hogeboom at the 3:28 mark of the first period, while the teams were skating four aside.
- That was Hogeboom's second "first goal" of the season.
- Hogeboom also scored the Royals' third goal 55 seconds into the second period of Reading's 4-3 win over Long Beach on Saturday.
- Hogeboom also scored the Royals' fourth goal (to give the Royals a 4-3 lead) at the 4:16 mark of the second period in Reading's 5-4 loss to Long Beach on Sunday.
- Hogeboom is currently riding a season team high five game goal scoring streak.
- Hogeboom also picked up an assist in Friday and Saturday's games, giving him ten multi-point games out of a total of 18 games that he's played for the team this year.
- Hogeboom is currently riding an eleven game point streak (8g -13a = 21pts).
- Hogeboom has had at least one point in 14 of the 18 games he has played with the Royals.
- Hogeboom leads the Royals with 26 points (9g - 17a = 26pts), which ranks seventh in the league in scoring and is third amongst rookies in the ECHL.
v The Royals' second goal on Friday night was scored by T.J. Kemp at the 15:16 mark of the first period, while the Royals were on the power play to give Reading a 2-0 lead.
- In Friday's game Kemp also played to a +4 (along with teammates Grant Jacobsen and Eric Werner), establishing a season team high in that category.
- Kemp was held pointless in Saturday's 4-3 win on Saturday night, which snapped his personal point streak at ten games, during which he compiled 18 points (3g - 15a = 18pts).
- Kemp came back on Sunday and scored the first two goals for the Royals in the 5-4 loss to Long Beach, marking the two goal performance of his pro career.
- Sunday's game marked the sixth multi-point performance of the season for Kemp.
- Kemp has picked up 21 points (5g - 16a = 21pts) for the Royals this year, which ranks tied for third on the team, sixth amongst rookies and second amongst defensemen in the league.
v The Royals' third goal on Friday night (which made the score 3-1) was scored by Grant Jacobsen 25 seconds into the second period.
- That goal turned out to be the game winner-the first of Jacobsen's pro career.
- Jacobsen also had two assists on Friday (and played to a plus four), marking his first three point performance as a professional.
v The Royals' fourth goal on Friday (to make the score 4-2) was scored by Shay Stephenson at the 6:05 mark of the second period.
- That was the first goal scored by Stephenson since his four goal night in the Royals' 6-1 win over the South Carolina Stingrays on November 19.
v The Royals' fifth goal on Friday night was scored by Mike Pandolfo at the 8:55 mark of the third period.
- Pandolfo also scored the Royals first goal at the 12:53 mark of the first period to tie the score at one in the Royals' 4-3 win over Long Beach on Saturday.
- Pandolfo now has eleven goals on the season for the Royals, which leads the team in that category.
- Pandolfo also picked up an assist in Sunday's 5-4 loss to Long Beach, extending his personal point streak to ten games (7g - 7a = 14pts).
- Pandolfo has had at least one point in fourteen of the seventeen games that he has played with the Royals.
- Pandolfo is tied for third on the Royals with 21 points (11g - 10a = 21pts).
v The Royals' sixth goal on Friday night was scored by Jon Francisco at the 15:03 mark of the third period into an empty net.
- In Saturday's 4-3 win, Francisco also scored the Royals' second goal at the 14:03 mark of the first period, while Reading was on the power play, marking his fourth consecutive game with a goal-a streak that was snapped in Sunday's 5-4 loss to Long Beach.
- Along with scoring a goal in Friday and Saturday's games, Francisco added an assist in each of those games, giving him a total of five multi-point games this year.
- Francisco also picked up an assist in Sunday's loss to Long Beach, extending a personal point streak to nine games (6g - 7a = 13pts).
v Eric Werner scored the seventh and final goal for the Royals on Friday night with 43 seconds remaining in the game.
- Werner also assisted on a goal on Friday night, marking his first multi-point performance as a pro.
- Werner also assisted on a goal in Saturday's 4-3 win and Sunday's 5-4 loss, extending a personal point streak to four games (1g - 3a = 4pts).
v In Friday night's win, Mike Kompon assisted on the first two goals scored by the Royals in that game.
- Kompon also assisted on two goals in Saturday's 4-3 win over Long Beach.
- Kompon also picked up an assist in Sunday's 5-4 loss, extending his personal point streak to six games (1g - 10a = 11pts).
- Kompon has now had nine multi-point performances for the Royals this season and eight of them have come in the last twelve games, during which he has racked up 21 points (5g - 16a = 21pts).
- Kompon's 25 points (7g - 18a = 25pts) places him second on the team and tied for eighth place the league's overall scoring race.
v Malcolm MacMillan had two assists in Friday's 7-2 win at Johnstown-including one on the game winning goal-marking his first multi-point performance of the season with the Royals.
v Barry Brust was the goaltender for the Royals in the 7-2 win over Johnstown on Friday, as he stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced in that game.
- Brust was also the goalie in Reading's 5-4 loss on Sunday, during which he stopped 22 of the 27 shots.
- Brust has a record of 2-2-0, a 3.22 goals against average and a save percentage of .899 with the Royals.
v On Saturday night, the Royals' third goal was scored by Doug Christiansen-his eighth of the season-at the 2:15 mark of the second period to give the Royals a 3-2 lead.
v The game winning goal in Saturday's 4-3 victory for the Royals was scored by Dany Roussin 35 seconds into the third period, while Reading was on the power play.
- This marked Roussin's second goal in as many games for the Royals.
- This was also Roussin's first professional game winning goal.
- Roussin also picked up an assist in Sunday's 5-4 loss to Long Beach, as he has had at least one point in every game he's played for Reading (2g - 1a = 3pts in 3 games).
v With Dany Roussin registering the game winning goal for Reading on Saturday night, thirteen different players have now scored a gwg this season for the Royals-in the span of just 14 wins this season.
v The Royals went 2 for 5 on the power play on Saturday night, marking the ninth time this season Reading has scored 2 or more power play goals in a single game.
- Over the last twelve games, the Royals' power play has scored 22 goals in 67 opportunities with the man advantage, a 32.8% scoring ratio.
- Over the course of the season, the Royals have scored 27 power play goals in 105 chances, a 25.7% scoring ratio, which ranks second in the league.
v Goaltender Cody Rudkowsky stopped 32 of the 35 shots he faced from Long Beach in the Royals' 4-3 win on Saturday night.
- This game extended Rudkowsky's personal win streak to seven games.
- Rudkowsky has also won seven consecutive games at the Sovereign Center.
- Rudkowsky (10-1-0) is currently tied for second in the league in wins (10) and save percentage (.935) and is in sole possession of second place in goals against average (1.90).
v Sunday's game marked the first time this season that the opponents have scored more than two power play goals in a single game against the Royals, as Long Beach went 3-6 on the power play that day.
- Over the course of the season, the Royals' penalty killing unit has allowed 17 power play goals against in 118 opportunities for the opposition, which translates into an 85.6% kill ratio-third in the league.
v In Sunday's 5-4 loss to Long Beach, the Royals entered the third period, leading by a score of 4-3, thus marking the first time this season that Reading has suffered a loss in regulation when entering the third period with a lead (11-1-1).
- The Royals did take a 4-2 lead into the third period against the Wheeling Nailers on October 28, and the Nailers scored with 1:47 remaining in regulation to tie the game at five and send it to overtime. The Nailers ended up beating the Royals in that game, 6-5, in a shootout.
v Each of the Royals' losses in regulation this season except one-the 3-0 loss to Trenton on 11/09-has been a one-goal game with the deciding game winning goal scored by the opposition in the third period.
- In the 2-1 loss at Toledo on November 6, the Storm scored at the 7:18 mark of the third period to break a 1-1 tie.
- In the 4-3 loss to Dayton on December 2, the Bombers scored with 36 seconds remaining to break a 3-3 tie.
- In Sunday's 5-4 loss to Long Beach, the Ice Dogs scored the game winner at the 12:22 mark of the third period to break a 4-4 tie.
v Over the course of the season, the only period in which the Royals have been outscored by the opposition is the third (22 - 24) (-2).
- In the first period the Royals have outscored the opposition (25 - 13) (+12); and in the second period, Reading has outscored the opponents (30 -11) (+19).
- In six games this season, the Royals have given up two or more goals to the opposition in the third period.
