Thon selected for All-Star Game

Clinton, IA - Slugging first baseman Freddie Thon was named to the West team of the 2006 Midwest League All-Star Game yesterday afternoon, elected as a reserve infielder by the field managers of the Midwest League. Thon, 22, leads the Clinton LumberKings in several offensive categories, including hits (57), RBI's (25), total bases (84), batting average (.303) and OPS (.778).

Thon was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 18th round of the June 2004 draft out of Brevard County Community College in Brevard County, Florida. He resides in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico in the offseason.

The Swing of the Quad Cities are hosting the 2006 MWL Summer All-Star Classic on June 20th at John O'Donnell Stadium, Davenport, Iowa. The broadcast of the game can be heard live on www.midwestleague.com.
