
Snappers Send League-High Nine to MWL All-Star Game

The Beloit Snappers will be well represented at the 2006 Midwest League All-Star Game. Beloit has a league-high nine players on the Western Division All-Star roster. All-Stars were nominated and selected by the Field Managers of the Midwest League.
Paul Kelly was selected as the starting shortstop and Tarrence Patterson was selected as a starting outfielder. Kelly is hitting .255 with 14 doubles and 26 RBI in 56 games. Patterson is hitting .246 and has swiped 16 bases in 24 attempts, ranking him tied for third in the league.
Joining Kelly and Patterson on the roster are reserves: Erik Lis, Caleb Moore Drew Thompson, and Steve Tolleson. Lis currently leads the league in average (.337), doubles (22) and is in the top five in hits (65, fourth), on-base percentage (.426, second), slugging percentage (.575, second), and extra-base hits (30, tied for second). Moore, a catcher, has a .276 batting average with 18 RBI in 47 games. Thompson is batting .222 with four doubles, four triples and two home runs in 41 games. Tolleson has .287 average with eight doubles and 16 RBI in 47 games.
Three Snappers pitchers are also on the roster, Yohan Pino, Eddie Morlan and Oswaldo Sosa. Pino is 4-1 with a 1.62 ERA and has recorded one save. Pino has 42 strikeouts in 33.1 innings. Morlan is 2-3 with a 2.61 ERA and has recorded one save. Morlan has fanned 57 batters in 48.1 innings. Sosa is 4-5 with a 3.05 ERA. Sosa has 45 strikeouts in 59 innings.
Beloit starting pitcher Brain Duensing was also selected as an All-Star. Duensing was promoted to the Fort Myers Miracle in the Florida State League on Tuesday, June 6. Duensing was 2-3 with a 2.94 ERA. He struck out 55 batters in 70.1 innings.
The Swing of the Quad Cities will host the All-Star Classic on Tuesday, June 20 at John O'Donnell Stadium in Davenport, Iowa.
