October 22, 2022 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
GREENVILLE, SC - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, ECHL affiliate of the LA Kings, announced today the club has signed Head Coach/General Manager Andrew Lord to a multi-year contract extension ahead of the 22-23 season.
Lord, who embarks on his third campaign behind the bench for the Swamp Rabbits on Saturday night against the Savannah Ghost Pirates, enters the 2022-23 season with a 71-48-25 record, making back-to-back postseason appearances since joining the club ahead of the 2020-21 season.
"When we purchased the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, we did an extensive search for not only the best coach, but the right coach," said Swamp Rabbits President Todd Mackin. "We at Spire understand that we aren't for everyone, and our expectations may be different than other organizations. It was clear when we made the hire, that Andrew Lord was our guy and that has not changed. We are very proud of our success on the ice but even more excited about his commitment to being an ambassador for this organization and hockey in Greenville. Lordo is our guy, he is the face of Greenville Hockey, he will work tirelessly to bring a championship to the upstate, and we are pumped to continue this journey with him behind the bench."
Lord was announced as the head coach of the Swamp Rabbits on June 19, 2020 and promoted to Head Coach/General Manager on October 28, 2021.
"I could not be more excited for this extension with such a great organization," said Lord. "From our Spire ownership, to Todd, our office staff and hockey ops, and players, there is such a great group of people here in Greenville. I'm very proud of what we have achieved on and off the ice in two seasons and believe the sky is the limit in the years ahead. I feel very fortunate to do what I love with the support of so many people."
Before taking the reins in Greenville, Lord spent six seasons as the head coach of the Cardiff Devils in the Elite Ice Hockey League. During his tenure in the United Kingdom, Lord became the winningest coach in Devils history with a record of 221-75-22.
The Swamp Rabbits open the 2022-23 season, presented by Bon Secours, on Saturday, October 22 at 7:05 p.m. as they take on the newest team in the ECHL, the Savannah Ghost Pirates, at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
