Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Omaha Storm Chasers (43-43) dropped game three to the Rochester Red Wings (46-41) 4-1. The Red Wings now lead the series 2-1.

Center fielder Drew Waters drew a leadoff walk before stealing second base and moving to third on a wild pitch. Waters would end up stranded 90 feet from home and leave the scoreboard still in the first.

To start the third, catcher William Hancock hit a single to put the first batter of the inning on base for the second time through the first three innings. Waters hit a single with one out and shortstop Iván Castillo loaded the bases with a single into the outfield. Left fielder Dairon Blanco grounded into a force out, but beat the double play throw to first, plating Hancock to put Omaha ahead 1-0 through three innings.

Left-hander Drew Parrish (Loss, 1-4) had to work around a lead off baserunner in each of the first five innings, keeping the Red Wings off the scoreboard in through the first four innings. In the fifth, Rochester used a rally and a two-run homer to take the lead 4-1 heading into the sixth.

In the sixth, Omaha loaded the bases with the entire rally coming with two outs. Third baseman Jimmy Govern and first baseman Angelo Castellano hit back-to-back singles before Hancock drew a walk that juiced the bases. The Storm Chasers would strand the bases loaded, with Omaha stranding eight base runners through the first six innings.

Omaha's bullpen came in and kept the Red Wings off the scoreboard in the late innings, this time using an inning each from right-hander Ryan Weiss and right-hander Zach Willeman. The pair allowed just one walk with no hits in the final two innings.

Omaha was not able put another runner on base and lost the game 4-1.

The Chasers continue their series with the Red Wings on Friday in game four-of-six. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. CDT with coverage starting at 5:45 p.m. on 1180 The Zone. Left-hander Austin Cox (4-4, 4.28) heads to the mound for Omaha tomorrow while Rochester has yet to announce tomorrow's starter.

Omaha returns home for a four-game series after the MLB All-Star break for a four-game series against the Iowa Cubs from July 22-55. The series will include Marvel's Defenders of the Diamond on July 22.
