(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - The Charlotte Knights dropped game three of the six-game series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs by a score of 8-3 on Thursday night from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte. The loss ended Charlotte's current three-game winning streak and four-game home winning streak.

Charlotte center fielder Mark Payton continued his solid season and got the Knights on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning with a solo home run, his 12th of the season. His solo homer tied the game at 1-1 at that point. He finished the game 2-for-4 with the home run.

One inning later, after the IronPigs took back the lead, the Knights used the long ball once again to tie up the game. In the bottom of the fourth, left fielder Blake Rutherford launched a solo home run, his ninth of the season. His fourth-inning blast tied the game at 2-2.

The Knights took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to a sacrifice-fly RBI from catcher Carlos Pérez. Unfortunately for the Knights, it was the last run the team would score on Thursday.

LHP John Parke (2-9, 6.83) started the game for Charlotte and allowed just two runs over the first five innings of the game. With the Knights ahead by a score of 3-2, the 'Pigs scored three runs off of Parke in the sixth inning and went on for the win. Parke was charged with the loss. In all, he allowed five runs on eight hits over five innings. Lehigh Valley added three runs in the top of the eighth inning - all charged to reliever Declan Cronin.

Chicago White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal continued his rehab assignment on Thursday and went 2-for-3 on the night with two walks and a run scored. In three games with the Knights on rehab this week, Grandal has recorded five hits. He's hitting .500. Right fielder Micker Adolfo chipped in with two hits in the game three loss.

The Knights will continue the six-game series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies) on Friday night at 7:04 p.m. from Truist Field. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time Knights broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and www.CharlotteKnights.com.
