Augusta Lynx News Release
One night after handing out a shutout to the Columbia Inferno, the Augusta Lynx had the favor returned to them by the South Carolina Stingrays in a 2-0 loss on Saturday night before 4,450 fans at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center.
A scoreless first period gave way to a power play goal by Rich Peverley to open up the second. Trevor Johnson and Maxime Daigneault grabbed the assists at 1:21 to give the Stingrays the lead. At 16:21, Ed Courtenay snuck the puck between the post and Jason Saal's right pad to finish the scoring in the game from Kevin Spiewack and Jeff Boulanger.
Stingrays goaltender Maxime Daigneault stopped 28 shots to pick up his first shutout of the year and help his team earn their first two points in regulation against the Lynx this season. Saal made 25 saves in the loss for the Lynx.
Augusta will now head on the road for seven straight games, starting with the Florida Everblades on Tuesday at 10:30 am. Pre-game show will be on one half-hour before game time on your home for NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630. The Lynx next home game will be back on Friday, February 4th against the Everblades at 7:35 pm.
