Comeback Falls Short As Bombers Drop 3-2 Decision

Dayton, OH – The Dayton Bombers spotted the Wheeling Nailers a 3-0 lead, battled back within one, but suffered a 3-2 loss to the Wheeling Nailers in front of 3,394 at the Nutter Center Friday.

Brendan Hodge opened the scoring early in the first period with his 9th goal of the season at 1:29 of the opening period. The Nailers made it 2-0 when Ben Blais beat MIKE AYERS at 11:22, and Wheeling had two goals on their first three shots.

At 13:02 of the second period, a great individual effort by Armands Berzins, who scored his first goal of the season, gave Wheeling a 3-0 lead. Just 3:32 seconds later, MIKE SCHUTTE tipped a slapshot from BRYAN NATHE past Nailers goaltender Danny Sabourin and the Bombers were on the board, 3-1.

BRENT OZAROWSKI scored his first goal with Dayton this season at 1:22 of the third period to make it 3-2, but the Nailers held on for the 3-2 victory. Ozarowski and Schutte both recorded 1 goal and 1 assist in the losing effort.

The Bombers return to action Wednesday night when they travel to Southpointe, PA to face the Wheeling Nailers at the Icoplex. Audio coverage at daytonbombers.com begins at 7:00 PM.
