Guelph Storm News Release
On Friday, April 11, Hockey Canada announced the staff that will lead Team Canada at the 2025 IIHF U18 World Championship in Texas, tapping on the shoulders of Storm Head Coach Cory Stillman and President of Hockey Operations Scott Walker to lead the way.
Cory Stillman will serve as the Head Coach of this year's U18 team. Stillman played 16 seasons in the NHL before officially retiring in 2011. After the conclusion of his playing career, Stillman went on to work in Player Development for the NHL's Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes before returning to the OHL as Head Coach of the Sudbury Wolves in 2017-18 where he mentored the likes of Quinton Byfield, Jack Thompson, Chase Stillman, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, and Isaak Phillips. Stillman spent three seasons as the Wolves' head coach before joining the Arizona Coyotes as an Assistant Coach in 2020-21. He joined the Guelph Storm in May 2024 as the 18th head coach in team history.
Scott Walker has been appointed as General Manager of this year's U18 team. Walker is heading into his 16th season with the Guelph Storm, where he currently serves as a co-owner and the President of Hockey Operations. Walker has been an assistant coach and player development consultant across the National Hockey League. In addition to his NHL experience, he is no stranger to the Hockey Canada programs, having been a head coach, assistant coach, and team consultant for various World Juniors, U18, U17, and Spengler Cup teams.
Canada's National Men's Under-18 Team will gather at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville before travelling to Texas. They will take on Germany on April 19 at 3pm, and Sweden on April 21 at 6pm in pre-tournament action at the Children's Health StarCenter in Farmers Branch, Texas.
The 2025 IIHF U18 Men's World Championship kicks off on April 23, with Canada taking on Slovakia, Latvia, Finland and Norway in the preliminary round before the tournament concludes with the medal games on May 3. TSN and RDS, the official broadcast partners of Hockey Canada, will broadcast 16 tournament games, including all Team Canada preliminary-round games, as well as the quarterfinals, semifinals, and medal games.
