Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, Idaho - Defenseman Jeremy Mylymok scored the game's only goal in the second period, and Steve Silverthorn stopped 21 shots for his second shutout of the season, as the Steelheads blanked the Phoenix RoadRunners, 1-0, in front of 4,421 fans at Qwest Arena on Friday night.

Early in the second period, the Steelheads (31-18-7) broke the scoreless tie while on a delayed penalty call against the RoadRunners. D'Arcy McConvey gave the puck to Greg Hornby along the right wing side in the neutral zone. Hornby crossed the blue line and spun away from the RoadRunners' (18-33-3) defense before feeding Mylymok at the point. Mylymok uncorked a rifle into the top shelf over the shoulder of RoadRunners' goaltender Ryan Cyr (38 saves) to give the Steelheads a 1-0 lead at 5:32 of the stanza.

Mylymok's fourth of the season was also his first game-winner of the year.

There was no scoring in the first and third periods, as the RoadRunners have been shutout an ECHL-high 10 times in 2005-2006. This is the second time the Steelheads have kept them off the scoreboard this season.

The victory allowed the Steelheads to remain perfect against the RoadRunners this season at 6-0-0. Both teams went zero-for-four on the power play, as the Steelheads out-shot the visitors 39-21 for the contest. It is the Steelheads 16th win in West division play this year, and their 14th on home ice.

Silverthorn picked up his team-leading 16th win of the year, while Cyr remains winless at 0-7-0.

The Steelheads wrap up their three-game series versus the RoadRunners on Friday, March 3. The puck drops at 7:10 p.m. MST. All the action can be heard live on ESPN Radio 1350 AM, "The Ticket," beginning approximately 20 minutes before the drop of the puck.
