
Gulls, Embrace and "Little Hercules" To Hold Skate-A-Thon March 12

WHO: Richard "Little Hercules" Sandrak, the "World's Strongest Boy" will team with the Embrace program and the San Diego Gulls to combat childhood obesity. He has made appearances on Ripley's Believe It or Not, the Dr. Phil Show, Howard Stern and Inside Edition among others. EMBRACE is a San Diego based nonprofit organization that utilizes sports to teach children the importance of healthy lifestyle habits and cultural self esteem to combat childhood obesity.
WHAT: "Embrace The Gulls" Skate-A-Thon will take place immediately after the San Diego Gulls take on the Fresno Falcons. Little Hercules will join 100 multi-ethnic children from King Chavez Academy of Excellence to Skate laps with the Gulls players and coaches to raise money for the Embrace program. Trainees from San Diego Job Corps, San Diego Kids Korps and the San Diego Fire Department Hockey Team will also skate to raise money. All Skate-A-Thon proceeds go directly to the participating children and the Embrace program.
WHEN: Sunday, March 12, 2006 - 5:05 p.m. game start, Skate-A-Thon immediately following game. Tickets start at $12

HOW: Little Hercules is seeking sponsors to donate up to $5 for every lap that he skates during a 20-minute period. He will be available for autographs during the second intermission and after the Skate-A-Thon. His workout video for kids will be available to 50 children free of charge. He just finished his first movie titled, "Little Hercules in 3D," featuring Hulk Hogan, Robin Givens, Elliot Gould and Jud Nelson, and is due to release later this year. "Richard's goal is to entertain and help kids stay fit and healthy. He wants to share this message and reach kids from all over the world," says manager Marco Garcia.
