VICTORIA, B.C. - The Bakersfield Condors won their fourth-straight road game as they defeated the Victoria Salmon Kings by a score of 4-3 in the shootout in front of 3,778 fans at the Save-On- Foods Memorial Centre.

The Condors struck first when Scott Balan threw a hard wrist shot from the near point toward the Victoria slot. Kevin Kotyluk deflected the shot toward Victoria netminder B.J. Boxma and slowly through the five-hole. Sean Venedam assisted on the play as Bakersfield took a 1-0 lead just 1:36 into the game.

The Salmon Kings answered back four minutes later as Jade Galbraith battled to push the puck toward the front of the Condors net. Galbraith lost his balance, but pushed a one-handed backhander to Tyler Shybunka, who fired a slap shot from the center of the slot past goaltender Marty Magers, tying the game at 1-1.

Joel Irving returned the lead to Bakersfield on a short breakaway on the left wing. Irving faked a wraparound attempt and deposited the puck just inside the near post under Boxma's right skate. Andrew Ianiero recorded the lone assist as the Condors went on top 2-1.

Following the successful kill of a Greg Black high- sticking major penalty, Steve Lingren capitalized on Victoria's power play. After receiving the feed from Galbraith, Lingren threw a wrist shot on net past Magers to tie the game at 2-2 with 3:22 remaining in the second period.

Victoria took their first lead of the night when Ryan Wade threw a point-blank shot from the far part of the crease. Magers made the save off his blocker, but Adam Taylor lifted the rebound under the crossbar to give Victoria a 3-2 advantage at 7:31 of the third period.

Following a penalty kill, Bakersfield pulled Magers for the extra skater. With under a minute left in regulation, After Kevin St. Jacques threw the puck onto the net, Sean Venedam joined a swarm of Condors to dig the rebound past Boxma. Venedam connected as it trickled across the goal line to tie the game at 3-3 with 58 seconds remaining, sending the game to extra hockey.

Following a scoreless overtime, Venedam and St. Jacques connected in the shootout. Galbraith converted his shootout attempt, but Ryan Wade lost his fourth-round shot off the back of his blade. Dave Bonk put the game on his stick and deked it low under the left of Boxma to seal the win for Bakersfield.

Marty Magers earned the win with 36 saves on 39 Victoria shots. B.J. Boxma was credited with the loss despite making 34 stops on 37 Condors attempts.
