Royals' Fifth Annual Fans' Choice Awards Banquet Set For April 5

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL today announced that the Fifth Annual Fans Choice Awards Banquet will be held at the Sovereign Performing Arts Center in Reading on Wednesday, April 5, at 6:00 pm. The fifth anniversary version of the Fans Choice Awards Banquet is themed "A Night To Remember" Presented By The Reading Eagle. Attendance at the Fans Choice Awards Banquet is open to everyone and reservations can be made at the customer service booth at all Royals' home games or by calling the Royals at 610-898-7825. The cost is $35.00 per person ($25.00 for children 12 and under). Fans who attend the awards banquet can expect to receive a one-of-a-kind collector's item gift from Rieck's Printing and the Royals' organization.

The Royals' organization will present nine team awards at the Fans' Choice Awards Banquet, including: Team MVP presented by AutoSpa of Wyomossing; Offensive Player of the Year presented by Nathaniel Ehrlich, Esquire; Defensive Player of the Year presented by V&M Towing;, Rookie of the Year presented by Works of Wyomissing; Unsung Hero presented by Freymoyer's Hotel and Restaurant; the "Heart" Award presented by Cardiology Association of West Reading; the "Fans Choice" Award presented by the Reading Eagle Company; Ironman of the Year presented by the Reading Royals; and the "Top Hat and Tails" Award presented by Avenue West Tuxedos. Fans can obtain their ballots in The Reading Eagle and can submit their completed ballots by mail or at the customer service booth at Royals' home games through the March 28 match-up against the Wheeling Nailers.

Gordon Kaye, the general manager of the Royals, stated, "this is a great opportunity to bring our players, staff and fans together and celebrate our fifth anniversary season. For our organization, it's a chance for us to once again say ‘thanks' to our fans, and it's also an opportunity for our fans to express their feelings with respect to the individual performance of our players. I think it's safe to say that the players consider it quite an honor to be nominated and selected for special recognition from the fans. We expect a great deal of fun and excitement-and perhaps even a few surprises-at the Fans' Choice Awards Banquet."

The Royals return to action at the Sovereign Center with a pair of games this weekend-Friday against the Johnstown Chiefs (7:00 pm) and Saturday against the Trenton Titans (7:00 pm). On Friday, the first 1500 fans 21 or older will receive a Mike's Hard Lemonade pint glass courtesy of All-Star Distributing; and on Saturday, the first 2000 fans will receive a Barry Brust bobblehead, commemorating the fifth anniversary season for the :Royals. Royals' game day broadcasts can be heard on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Ephrata and www.royalshockey.com with pre-game beginning 30 minutes before the opening face-off. Streaming video is also available through the Royals' website on a pay per view basis provided by B2 Networks.
