Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Alaska Aces fans will get their first looks at winger Colin Hemingway and defenseman Doug Lynch when Utah looks to avenge Wednesday's 8-1 loss tonight at Sullivan Arena.

Hemingway has been assigned to the Aces by Alaska's AHL affiliate in Peoria, where he tallied 15 points on seven goals and eight assists in 16 games before being injured earlier this season. Originally an eighth-round choice of St. Louis in the 1999 Draft, the 25-year-old native of Regina, Saskatchewan, appeared in his three NHL games for the Blues earlier this year. Now in his third pro campaign, Hemingway led the University of New Hampshire to a pair of Frozen Four appearances in 2002 and 2003. He scored 55 goals in his last two years for the Wildcats, who fell to Minnesota in the 2003 NCAA national championship game.

Lynch, a second-round pick of Edmonton in 2001, was traded to St. Louis in the Chris Pronger deal and began the year in Peoria before being assigned to the Aces during a road trip in early January. He had a goal and an assist in a 6-1 rout of Phoenix January 11, but was hurt three days later in a loss to San Diego and has missed the last 19 games.

Earlier today, forwards Mike Scott and Alex Leavitt finished runner-up for the ECHL Player and Rookie of the Month awards, respectively. Scott scored 10 goals and assisted on 11 others with a +7 rating in February, while Leavitt, who won the honor in January, finished with 17 points (7g-10a) as Alaska went 9-2-1 during the month.

Alaska (43-8-4) carries a six-point lead in the West Division heading into tonight's rematch with Utah 7:15 p.m. The teams meet again tomorrow night at 7:15 p.m. and then face one another three times in Salt Lake later this month. All Alaska Aces games are broadcast live on KFQD AM 750 and at www.alaskaaces.com, where all home games and selected road contests also are available on a pay-per-view basis, courtesy of B2 Networks.
