Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release
Traverse City, MI - The Traverse City Pit Spitters (1-2) fell short 5-4 in the ninth against the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders on Thursday.
The Pit Spitters scored two in the first on an RBI groundout from Chris Monroe. Fond du Lac answered in the bottom half with one, but the Pit Spitters got it right back in the second with an RBI single from Michael Stygles.
In the third, Fond du Lac scored one and then added two more in the fourth to take a 4-3 lead. Traverse City answered on Monroe's second RBI to tie the game.
In Will Mabrey's first appearance of the season, he gave up one run in the seventh as the Dock Spiders went up 5-4. Traverse City loaded the bases in the ninth but couldn't convert and fell in game one.
Stygles had two hits to increase his hit streak to six games. Monroe went 0-5 and lost his 11-game streak.
