Major League Soccer today revealed the home openers for all 24 clubs for its 24th season in 2019 - a year that will feature the highly-anticipated launch of an expansion club in the Midwest (FC Cincinnati) and opening of the league's 20th stadium built for soccer (Minnesota United's Allianz Field), culminating in the debut of MLS' thrilling, single-elimination playoff format. In addition to Sounders FC facing the league's 24th club on March 2 at CenturyLink Field, 18 other teams begin their respective campaigns that Saturday, including an Eastern Conference Semifinals rematch between Columbus Crew SC and the New York Red Bulls.
This marks the second consecutive campaign and third all-time that Sounders FC has opened its regular season against an expansion side after hosting Los Angeles FC last year and the Philadelphia Union in 2010. The Rave Green are 5-5-0 all-time in MLS regular-season openers, despite losses in each of the past three seasons, including a 1-0 loss to LAFC in 2018. This marks the 10th time in 11 seasons that Seattle has hosted its season opener.
During the 2019 MLS regular season, each club plays play 34 matches, including 17 home games and 17 away games. Teams face each of their conference opponents twice during the season, with one game at home and one game away. All teams face each non-conference opponent once.
This match, along with other Sounders FC 2019 home matches are available exclusively through Sounders FC Season Ticket Memberships. Fan can purchase memberships online through SoundersFC.com/Tickets.
