Chicago Fire FC News Release
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. - Chicago Fire Soccer Club midfielder Djordje Mihailovic has been called into camp with the U.S. Men's National Team for the team's annual January training camp, set to run from Jan. 7- Feb. 2, 2019. The announcement marks the 20-year-old midfielder's first call-up to the U.S. Men's National Team.
Mihailovic will report to the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., for the team's training camp, as the United States prepares for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup.
Following a two-week training camp in Chula Vista from Jan. 7-21, newly appointed head coach Gregg Berhalter and the USMNT will travel to Glendale, Ariz., to face Panama at State Farm Stadium on Sunday, Jan. 27. Beginning at 7 p.m. CT, the match against Panama will be televised nationally on ESPN2 and Univision Networks.
The United States will continue its preparation for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup one week later, welcoming Costa Rica to Avaya Stadium in San Jose, Calif. Scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT, the match against Costa Rica will be broadcast live on FOX and Univision Networks.
Mihailovic has previously featured for the United States at the youth international level. After spending time in the U.S. U-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Fla., the midfielder made two appearances for the U.S. U-19 Men's National Team. Mihailovic scored two goals for the U-19s in 2016, including the game winners against Mauritania in the 2016 COTIF Tournament in Valencia, Spain, on July 28, 2016, and against Hungary in the Stevan-Vilotic Cele Tournament in Topola, Serbia, on Sept. 5, 2016.
Since signing with the Fire as a Homegrown Player on Jan. 27, 2017, Mihailovic has made 26 appearances (15 starts) in MLS play for the Men in Red, tallying two goals and six assists.
