
Solar Bears Fall in First Clash with Everblades, 3-2

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears (4-2-1-0), proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and the AHL's Toronto Marlies, fell by a 3-2 score to the Florida Everblades (7-4-0-0) in front of a crowd of 7,511 on Saturday night at the Amway Center.
Erik Bradford gave the Solar Bears an early lead at 1:52 of the first period when he drove to the slot and took a feed from Brett Findlay to beat Daniel Altshuller for his first of the season.
The Everblades tied the score at 6:40 when Mike Aviani knocked a loose puck past Ryan Massa while on the power-play.
Florida took a 2-1 lead when Corey Syvret threw the puck on net from the left point and beat Massa at 10:17.
The Everblades extended their lead to two goals in the second period when Evan Bloodoff tapped in a feed from Brant Harris on a delayed penalty at 8:27.
Eric Baier cut the deficit back to one goal for the Solar Bears at 13:29 with a wrist shot off a feed from Matt Rupert, but Orlando could not complete the rally in the third period.
Massa took the loss for Orlando with 33 saves on 36 shots; Altshuller picked up the win with 26 stops on 28 shots.
