Gameday: Adirondack at Toledo
November 7, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Adirondack Thunder News Release
GAME NOTES
CIN CITY: The Thunder finished one win short of tying an ECHL record as they were defeated last evening in Cincinnati. Former Adirondack Flames goaltender Brad Thiessen made 31 saves and Cincinnati forward Joe Pendenza had three points (2-1-3), including a goal with just 15 seconds left in the game to give the Cyclones the victory and Adirondack its first loss of the season.
SEVENTH HEAVEN WILL HAVE TO DO: Adirondack fell just short of tying an ECHL record of consecutive victories to open a season. The Thunder, who had won each of their first seven games, could have joined 1994 Dayton and 2001 Trenton as the only teams in ECHL history to win eight straight games to open a season.
CARRIER ON MY WAYWARD SON: The offensive star for Adirondack in last evening's defeat was winger Alex Carrier, who had a big game with both Thunder goals. Last night was also the first two-goal effort of his ECHL career and the two tallies are already a career high, Carrier is two points of his career high in points of six (1-5-6), set in 2012-13 with the Trenton Titans.
CON ARTIST: Defernseman Ryan Constant is rolling with points in each of his past five games, extended with an assist on Carrier's second goal late in the third period last evening, the longest active streak on the team. Constant has points in six of Adirondack's eight games this season, including his first goal on Wednesday in Kalamazoo.
SHOW AND ELL: Center Mads Eller is starting to heat up offensively, with assists in three of his past four games, including a helper from Carrier last night. The Danish born forward, who is a +6 over his past five games, is brothers with Montreal Canadiens forward Mads Eller.
OHIO WOE: The Thunder will look to end their Ohio woes, after a loss to Cincinnati last night. This is the team's only trip to the state this season. Last season, the Adirondack Flames were perfect in the state of Ohio, after a two-game sweep of the Lake Erie Monsters in early November.
