
Mallards Fall to Fuel

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (November 7, 2015) - Five different players scored for the the host Indy Fuel (5-3-1) and Shane Owen made 23 saves as the Fuel defeated Quad City Mallards (4-4-3) 5-2 Saturday night.
After first taking the lead one minute and 38 seconds into the game, the Fuel remained in control for much of the night. Rhett Bly provided the early opener by burying Daniel Ciampini's centering pass. At the sixteen minute mark of the first Peter Schneider converted a centering pass from Dylan Clarke to stretch the gap to 2-0.
The Mallards delivered a ferocious response early in the second period to briefly tie game. Oilvier Archambault got the Mallards on the scoreboard from the slot at 1:40 of the second; at 4:11 Vladimir Nikiforov evened the score at two on a breakaway. However, the deadlock would last less than two minutes before Josh Brittain pounced on a rebound to put Indy back on top for good at the 6:07 mark. Garrett Bembridge's wrist shot from the left wing circle reestablished the Fuel's two goal lead at 15:54 of the middle frame.
Alex Lavoie- who also had an assist- capped off the victory for Indy by scoring from the left wing circle at 14:25 of the third period.
The Mallards next play at home next Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. against the Alaska Aces. Next Wednesday is also Military Appreciation Night. The Mallards will wear special edition VFW jerseys during next Wednesday night's game and all current and former military personnel and their families can purchase tickets to that contest for just $5.
