ECHL Announces Fine, Suspension

November 7, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release


PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Saturday announced that Elmira's Spiro Goulakos has been suspended pending a review and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #110, Elmira at South Carolina, on Nov. 6.

Goulakos was assessed a match penalty for illegal check to the head under Rule #48.5 at 0:15 of the second period. He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 - Supplementary Discipline.

Goulakos will miss Elmira's game at South Carolina tonight (Nov. 7) and any further discipline will be announced following a review by the ECHL Player Safety Department next week.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player's Hardship Fund.
