Memphis Redbirds News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - The first-place Memphis Redbirds (48-32) scored seven runs in the seventh inning to turn a 2-0 deficit into a 7-2 lead en route to a 7-5 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Brewers) in the series finale Thursday night in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Newly-minted All-Star Game starting pitcher Dakota Hudson moved to 11-2 this season with 6.0 innings of work Thursday night, allowing two runs on six hits. He lowered his season ERA to 2.10, and he went 5-0 with a 1.06 ERA (4er/34.0ip) in the month of June. Hudson has won eight of his last nine starts.
Hudson's 11 wins on the season are already tied for sixth-most in a season in Redbirds history.
Tyler O'Neill homered for the third-straight game for the fourth time this season, three of which have come with the Redbirds and one with the St. Louis Cardinals. The slugger has hit 18 home runs with the Redbirds.
Rangel Ravelo was on base five times Thursday night, going 3-for-3 with a walk and a hit by pitch. He is currently on an eight-game hitting streak, going 17-for-26 (.654) with five multi-hit games during the span.
Memphis trailed 2-0 and had three total hits until the seven-run seventh, with Carson Kelly hitting a two-run home run to tie the game at 2 before Ravelo had a two-run single, Luke Voit added a sacrifice fly, and O'Neill hit a two-run home run.
Hudson turned the ball over to Conner Greene, who allowed two runs, one earned, in 1.0 innings of relief. Andrew Morales gave up a run in 1.2 innings, and Tommy Layne got the final out of the ballgame to finish up the win.
Memphis won despite being out-hit and committing two errors.
The Redbirds head to Iowa to start their five-game series tomorrow night at 7:08 before returning to AutoZone Park on July 4 for the 4th of July Celebration, presented by AutoZone.
