Salt Lake Bees News Release
SALT LAKE CITY -Salt Lake outfielder Jabari Blash was elected a Pacific Coast League All-Star as announced by the PCL today. Blash is the first Bee to be named a starter for the PCL team since outfielder Kole Calhoun in 2012.
Blash, 27, was acquired by the Angels in a trade from the New York Yankees on Feb. 21, 2018 and leads the PCL in home runs (22) and slugging percentage (.795) entering Thursday night. He also ranks second in on-base percentage (.442) and extra base hits (41), fourth in runs scored (52) and sixth in batting average (.342). This is the second PCL honor for Blash this season. He was named PCL Player of the Month for April after hitting .362 with nine homers and 22 RBIs in the first month of the season. Blash has been named a Mid-Season All-Star two other times in his career. In 2013 he was a California League All-Star with High Desert and in 2015 he made the Southern League All-Star with Jackson. Both previous appearances came as a member of the Seattle Mariners organization.
The outfielder is the 36th Triple-A All-Star in franchise history. Other notable Salt Lake All-Stars include Troy Scribner (2017), Kaleb Cowart (2016), Mark Trumbo (2010), Howie Kendrick (2006) and Todd Walker (2000).
The 31st Annual Triple-A All-Star Game will be held at Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio. The game will be broadcast nationally on MLB Network starting at 5:00 p.m. MT on Wednesday, July 18.
The Bees continue their nine-game Nevada road trip with the series finale in Reno on Thursday night before moving to Las Vegas for a five-game series with the 51s. Salt Lake returns to Smith's Ballpark on Thursday, July 4 for a fireworks filled homestand. Tickets and more information is available at www.slbees.com.
