Sacramento River Cats News Release
ALBUQUERQUE, NM - The Sacramento River Cats (35-45) got a solid start from Daniel Camarena in Thursday's series finale, but the left-hander took the loss as the Albuquerque Isotopes (40-39) held on to win 3-1. The River Cats offense managed just five hits and did not dent the scoreboard until the ninth inning.
The River Cats offense was held in check this afternoon due to a fantastic outing from Isotopes' righty Antonio Senzatela. Myles Schroder led the way for Sacramento, going 2-for-3 on the day for his ninth multi-hit game of the season. Down 3-0 in the ninth inning, pinch hitter Orlando Calixte singled to right to score Steven Duggar for the River Cats lone run of the game.
River Cats starting pitcher Daniel Camarena allowed just one run in five innings with one walk and four strikeouts. Tyler Beede, who has been used out of the bullpen in a variety of ways, pitched a 1-2-3 sixth inning with a strikeout to keep the River Cats in striking distance. The Isotopes tacked on two more runs in the seventh inning, however, to increase their lead to three runs, and eventually closed the game out with a 3-1 final.
Giants' right-hander Johnny Cueto (0-2, 2.59) will make his second rehab start for the River Cats tomorrow night in the first of a five-game series with the Fresno Grizzlies. Fresno will counter with right-hander Trent Thornton (5-5, 3.01). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. (PT). - With his back-to-back multi-hit games, Schroder has gone 4-for-8 with a double in three games played in Albuquerque.
