Today's Game: The Oklahoma City Dodgers wrap up their four-game series against the Nashville Sounds trying to avoid a series sweep. The Dodgers trail, 3-0, in the series and have not been swept in a four-game series since May 23-26, 2016 at Fresno and have not been swept at home in a four-game series since June 2-5, 2015 vs. Sacramento. The Dodgers have lost four straight games overall, as well as five straight home games...Tonight's game will be televised on YurView on Cox (Channel 1333) beginning five minutes before first pitch.
Yesterday's Games: The Dodgers dropped both games of a doubleheader to Nashville Wednesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, losing the first game, 5-4, and the second game, 1-0. The Dodgers led Game 1, 2-1, after two innings. Nashville scored three runs in the third inning, including a two-run homer by RamÃ"n Laureano, to take a 4-2 lead. A RBI double by Andrew Toles in the bottom of the third inning cut the Sounds' lead to 4-3, and his RBI single in the fifth knotted the game, 4-4. In the top of the sixth, Jorge Mateo hit a go-ahead RBI triple to put Nashville in front, 5-4. Dodgers starting pitcher Manny Bañuelos (8-4) was charged with the loss, tying his season high with five runs allowed (four earned) and eight hits over 5.1 innings with one walk and five strikeouts. Nashville starting pitcher Eric Jokisch (2-7) picked up the win. and reliever J.B. Wendelken got the save...In Game 2, the Dodgers were held to three hits and went 0-for-12 with runners on and 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. The Dodgers did not have a hit until Toles singled in the bottom of the fourth inning. Nashville scored the game's lone run in the fifth inning. Brett Vertigan tripled with one out and scored on a RBI single by Nick Martini. Dodgers reliever Josh Sborz (0-1) was charged with the loss. Nashville starting pitcher Ben Bracewell (1-2) pitched 5.0 scoreless innings and held the Dodgers to two hits for the win.
Today's Probable Pitcher: Guillermo Moscoso (3-4) takes the mound seeking his fourth win of the season in his 13th start with OKC...In his last start June 22 in Omaha, Moscoso allowed two runs and three hits over 5.0 innings with one walk and three strikeouts. He exited the game with OKC in the lead, but settled for a no decision as the Dodgers lost, 6-3...Over his last two starts he's delivered 10.0 solid innings, allowing just two runs and seven hits while striking out seven...After beginning the season in the bullpen, Moscoso has made 12 starts. He's allowed two earned runs or less eight times...He has 61 K's against 22 walks in 68.0 IP...The 2018 season marks his first playing in the U.S. since 2013, following three years in Japan and last year in Mexico...Over five MLB seasons with Texas (2009-10), Oakland (2011), Colorado (2012) and San Francisco (2013), he compiled a 4.28 ERA over 222.2 IP and 70 games (26 starts) with 166 K's and 86 walks...This is Moscoso's second career stint with OKC after appearing in 35 games (33 starts) for the RedHawks in 2009-10...He originally signed with Detroit as an amateur free agent Jan. 16, 2003...Tonight is his eighth career start against Nashville and third of the season. So far in 2018, he owns a 1.80 ERA against the Sounds, holding them to two runs and five hits over 10.0 innings with three walks and 10 strikeouts.
Against the Sounds: 2018: 5-6 2017: 11-5 All-time: 181-150 At OKC: 95-71 The Dodgers and Sounds meet for their third series of the season and second in OKC...The Sounds and Dodgers split an abbreviated series at First Tennessee Park, 2-2, May 25-28, as the series finale was postponed to July 21 due to inclement weather. The teams combined to score just 18 runs total in the series...The Dodgers won the first series of the season between the teams May 17-20 in Bricktown, 3-1. The Dodgers outscored the Sounds, 32-15, and outhit Nashville, 50-30, in the four-game set, batting .350 as a team...In 2017, the Dodgers won the season series, 11-5, posting at least 10 wins against the Sounds for the third straight year. OKC outscored the Sounds, 85-54, and Dodgers pitchers racked up 158 strikeouts in 16 meetings for an average of 9.9 per game...Since 2015, the Dodgers are 37-22 against the Sounds, including 19-12 at home...Each of the last six meetings has been decided by one run, with the Sounds winning five of six. This the first time OKC has lost four straight games against Nashville since July 5-8, 2007. OKC has not been swept in a four-game series by the Sounds since April 14-17, 2006 and at home since July 12-15, 2001.
Fantastic Four: Earlier today, four Oklahoma City Dodgers were named to the 2018 Triple-A All-Star Game: starting pitcher Manny Bañuelos, catcher Rocky Gale, relief pitcher Pat Venditte and outfielder Alex Verdugo. It's the second straight year and third time in the last four seasons the team has had four representatives selected to the Triple-A All Star Game, which is tied for the most in the team's PCL era...The 2018 Huntington Bank Triple-A All-Star Game presented by Gildan is Wednesday, July 11 at Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio.
Home-Less: The Dodgers have suffered five straight losses at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark for their longest home losing skid since losing five straight Aug. 4-8, 2015. OKC has not lost six straight at home since June 3-13, 2011...The Dodgers started the season 15-0 at home but are 12-12 since. They have also gone 4-7 over their last 11 home games following a 23-5 start...Over the five-game home skid, the team is batting .216 (33x153) with 14 runs. Prior to the recent struggles, the team was batting .315 and averaging 6.03 runs per game at home.
June Swoon: Following a 5-3 win over Las Vegas on June 17, the Dodgers stood a season-best 17 games above .500 with a 41-24 record. Since then they have proceeded to lose seven of nine games, and their first-place lead in the American Northern division has dwindled from 6.0 to 1.5 games ahead of Colorado Springs. During the last nine games the pitching staff has posted a 4.86 ERA and opponents are batting .305 while scoring five-plus runs in six games (44 runs total). The offense during that same time is batting .245, including .203 with runners in scoring position, while scoring 31 runs (3.4 per game)...The team has not lost five straight games since July 31-Aug. 5, 2016.
Give Me Some Mora: Angelo Mora collected a hit and RBI in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader and has now hit safely in five straight games and in 15 of 18 games this month. He ranks fourth in the PCL with a .480 OBP since rejoining OKC June 3. During that span Mora is batting .397 (25x63) with a team-best 19 RBI...In his first 14 games with OKC in April-May, Mora batted .189 with one walk. This month he's drawn a team-leading 11 walks.
Around the Horn: Yesterday's 1-0 loss in Game 2 was OKC's fourth shutout loss of the season and second in four games. Each of the last two times they've been shutout they have not had a runner reach third base...Edwin RÃ-os was held without a hit in Game 2 of yesterday's doubleheader, snapping his season-best eight-game hitting streak. He had hit safely in nine consecutive starts, going 13-for-33 (.394) with seven RBI and seven runs scored...Travis Taijeron hit safely in both games of Wednesday's doubleheader and has now hit safely in five straight contests (5x18). A hit tonight would allow him to match his season-long hit streak at six games, set May 17-23...After allowing five runs over his first two appearances with OKC, reliever Logan Ondrusek has strung together five straight scoreless outings totaling 8.1 innings, allowing six hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts...Jake Peter is 4-for-37 this month and is in the midst of a 1-for-20 slide.
