Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
ROUND ROCK, TX (June 28) - Round Rock completed a 4-game sweep of the Storm Chasers, as Omaha fell to a 7-2 defeat on Thursday night at the Dell Diamond.
Round Rock opened the scoring with a 2-out rally in the bottom of the 1st inning; Christian Lopes singled, and Tommy Joseph homered to left field, giving the Express a 2-0 lead.
Omaha tied it in the 5th. Humberto Arteaga singled, and advanced to 3rd when Terrance Gore bunted for a hit and pitcher David Hurlbut made an errant throw to 1st; Ramon Torres drove in Arteaga with an RBI groundout, and Frank Schwindel singled to bring Gore home, making it 2-2.
The Express regained the lead in the last of the 6th, however. Tommy Joseph singled, Willie Calhoun doubled, and Tony Sanchez laced a 2-out, 2-run double to left field for a 4-2 advantage.
Jon Dziedzic (L, 3-7) was charged with 4 runs on 6 hits in 5.1 innings. He struck out 5 and walked 2.
David Hurlbut (W, 3-5) worked out of numerous jams and limited the Chasers to 2 runs on 10 hits. He struck out 1 and did not walk a batter.
Round Rock broke the game open in the bottom of the 7th, as Luis Vasquez issued a leadoff walk to Hanser Alberto, and then surrendered a single to Drew Robinson, an RBI hit to Cliff Pennington, and a 2-run homer to Christian Lopes. It was 7-2.
Taylor Scott and Jeff Springs combined to hold Omaha scoreless over the final 4 innings. The Storm Chasers stranded 11 runners on base and went just 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position.
The Storm Chasers (35-43) return to Werner Park to open a 5-game homestand against Nashville tomorrow at 7:05. RHP Trevor Oaks (4-3, 2.05) will be opposed by RHP James Naile (5-6, 3.93). Hy-Vee Friday Fireworks will follow the game.
