March 23, 2019 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release

The Belleville Senators dropped its second straight game Saturday night with a narrow 2-1 loss to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Filip Gustavsson, playing in his first game since Feb. 9, made 20 saves while Cody Goloubef scored. Bridgeport's Christopher Gibson turned away 29 shots while Scott Easnor and Steve Bernier had goals for the hosts.

After surviving an early 5-on-3 disadvantage with Logan Brown and Justin Falk in the box, the Sens fell down a goal at 6:09 as Easnor got a piece of Kyle Burroughs' point shot to give Bridgeport an early lead.

The Sens had a glorious chance to tie the game in the second as Jack Rodewald skated in on a short-handed breakaway but Gibson stuck with the Sens forward to keep his backhander out. It proved to be a big save as less than a minute later Bridgeport pushed its lead to 2-0 at 14:13 through Bernier who tipped Sebastian Aho's blast from the blue line to beat Gustavsson.

Joseph LaBate and Mike Cornell dropped the mitts in the third before Belleville finally beat Gibson with their 30th shot of the night as Goloubef scored from the low slot with 2:06 to play but the Senators were unable to find a tying goal in the final few minutes.

Belleville is back in action Wednesday when they host the Syracuse Crunch. Tickets are available.
