
Blue Jackets Reassign Goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks to Monsters

CLEVELAND - The AHL's Cleveland Monsters announced Saturday that the team's NHL affiliate, the Columbus Blue Jackets, reassigned goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks to Cleveland from the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings. A 6'2", 184 lb., left-catching native of Riga, Latvia, Kivlenieks, 22, posted a record of 4-4-0 with one shutout, a 3.71 goals-against average (GAA) and a .873 save percentage (S%) in 14 appearances for the Monsters this season and went 5-3-0 with a 2.71 GAA and a .923 S% in eight appearances for Kalamazoo this year.
In two AHL campaigns with the Monsters spanning the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, Kivlenieks supplied a record of 18-25-5 with two shutouts, a 3.33 GAA and a .887 S%. In one USHL season with the Sioux City Musketeers in 2016-17, Kivlenieks claimed USHL Goaltender and Player of the Year honors and was named to the USHL's First All-Star Team while leading the league in both goals-against average and save percentage, notching a record of 36-7-2 with five shutouts, a 1.85 GAA and a .932 S%.
