Sea Dogs Welcome 6 Millionth Fan

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs welcomed the 6 millionth fan in franchise history on Thursday, August 28th as the Sea Dogs took on the New Britain Rock Cats (Twins). Rene Sirois of Auburn, Maine was the lucky fan. Entering tonight the Sea Dogs needed to attract 3,655 fans to reach the milestone. The Sea Dogs became one of the quickest Double-A franchises to acoomplish the feat.

Sirois threw out a ceremonial first-pitch prior to tonight's game and received a Sea Dogs prize package that consisted of a Skybox to a future game, a $125.00 Gift Card to Hannaford, Two Walk On Outdoor Adventures at LL Bean, and a LL Bean Gift Card.

The 2008 season is the 15th season of play for the Sea Dogs. In the team's first season in 1994, the Sea Dogs established a new Eastern League record in attendance as 375,197 fans made their way to Hadlock Field. Since that time the Sea Dogs have consistently drawn around 400,000 fans annually and rank among the attendance leaders in Double-A baseball. Last season the Sea Dogs averaged a franchise record 6,483 fans per game.

Through 61 openings this season the Sea Dogs have drawn 376,152 fans, ranking second in the league averaging 6,166 fans per game

The Sea Dogs are looking to qualify for post-season play for the fourth consecutive year. Tickets for the playoffs are currently on sale and can be purchased by calling the Sea Dogs Ticket Office at 207-879-9500. Should the Sea Dogs qualify for post-season play, games three and four (if necessary) of the first round of the playoffs would be held at Hadlock Field on Friday, September 5th at 7:00 PM and Saturday, September 6th at 6:00 PM.
