Akron Aeros roster move
August 28, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Akron RubberDucks News Release
The Aeros made a roster move today, placing C Doug Pickens on the disabled list with a strained left calf and activating OF Matt LaPorta from the temporary inactive list.
Pickens has appeared in just one game for the Aeros this season, going 1-4 in a loss at New Britain last Saturday. A 50th-round pick out of the University of Michigan in 2007, Pickens hit .235 with a homer and 18 RBI in 47 games for Lake County and .226 with a homer and seven RBI in 24 games with Mahoning Valley.
LaPorta was on the inactive list for exactly one month while playing for the United States in the Olympics. Obtained from the Milwaukee Brewers earlier this year as part of the CC Sabathia deal, LaPorta is hitting .212 with a homer and seven RBI in 14 games for Akron this season. He is in the lineup for game one of tonight's doubleheader, hitting fourth and serving as the DH.
