Aeros Qualify for Playoffs
August 28, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Akron RubberDucks News Release
AKRON, OH - The Akron Aeros are going back to the Eastern League Playoffs, qualifying for the post-season with Thursday's 3-0 victory over Altoona in game one of a doubleheader at Canal Park.
Both the divisional series and the championship series are a best-of-five format. The price of playoff tickets will not go up compared to regular-season games, with reserved seats still $10 for adults and $8 for juniors (12 and under) and seniors (60 and over). Bleacher seats will remain at $9 for adults and $7 for juniors and seniors.
The Aeros have assured themselves of the wild card spot in the Southern Division, meaning they will open the playoffs on the road at Bowie on Wednesday, September 3rd. Game two in the best-of-five series will be Thursday, September 4th at Bowie before the scene shifts to Canal Park for game three on Friday, September 5th. Game four (if necessary) will be in Akron on Saturday, September 6th and game five (if necessary) will be back in Bowie on Sunday, September 7th. Both games in Akron will start at 7:05 p.m., while game times in Bowie are to be determined.
Now, should faith and Providence combine and the Aeros find themselves immersed in the intoxicating brew known as the Eastern League Championship Series, Akron would host the first two games of the series here at Canal Park. Game one of the series would be tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, September 9th, and game two would be tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, September 10th. Again, both games would begin at 7:05 p.m.
Playoff tickets are available through myriad different means: in-person at Infield Outfitters (our official team shop located at Canal Park), by telephone at 330-253-5153 or toll-free at 1-800-97-AEROS, or online at www.akronaeros.com. Infield Outfitters is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, with extended hours on game days. Please note that call outlets will be closed for the Labor Day weekend.
Akron hosts the Altoona Curve Thursday night before finishing the regular season with four games in Erie this weekend. For more information, please call the Aeros at (330) 253-5151.
