Field of Dreams Day Headlines Curve Homestand
August 28, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Altoona Curve News Release
ALTOONA - Beginning Friday, the Altoona Curve are set to open their final homestand of the 2008 season, which will feature a four-game series against the Reading Phillies from Friday, August 29 through Monday, September 1.
On the final game of the 2008 season, fans are urged to show up to the ballpark early. With gates set to open at 11:00 a.m. for the scheduled 12:05 p.m. first pitch, fans will see the Blair County Ballpark outfield resembling that of the ball field actor Kevin Costner's character Ray Kinsella built in the 1989 classic, Field of Dreams. Just like the movie, Curve players, who will be wearing their 1920's style throw-back uniforms, will emerge from the make shift corn stalks, only walk through the stands, to mingle with fans, and thank them for their great support throughout the season. Curve manager Tim Leiper will also address the crowd shortly thereafter.
The Field of Dreams festivities will begin at 11:15 a.m. and last until approximately 11:40 a.m.
The four games are promised to be jam-packed with affordable, fun, family entertainment as the best homestand of the Curve's season-long celebration of its tenth anniversary. Aside from the Field of Dreams day at the park, the homestand will also feature a pair of fireworks shows, the final Tenth Anniversary Photo Ball, featuring Curve greats J.R. House and Chris Duffy, and an appearance by Super-Nerd Myron Noodleman.
That's just scratching the surface of what's expected to be the best homestand of the season, as the Altoona Curve cap off the 2008 season with a bang!
