PAPILLION, NEB. - While an Edward Olivares homer in the eighth inning tied the game, a pair of runs in the top of the ninth put the St. Paul Saints back ahead for good and the Omaha Storm Chasers fell 6-4 Wednesday night at Werner Park.

For the second night in a row, St. Paul jumped out to a lead in the first and five of the first six batters reached base against starter Anthony Veneziano in the top of the first inning and three runs scored for a quick 3-0 lead.

Veneziano worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the second, stranded a runner on in the third and found his groove in the fourth with a 1-2-3 frame. The left-hander allowed a pair of hits in the fifth and a sacrifice fly knocked him out of the game, unable to make it out of the fifth.

Omaha's offense gave Veneziano a run of support in the fourth inning, as Devin Mann connected on a solo homer, his third with Omaha this season, at the time to bring Omaha within two runs.

After the Saints scored a run in the top of the fifth, Angelo Castellano brought the game within two again in the bottom half, with his ninth homer of the season, also a solo shot.

Jonathan Heasley followed behind Veneziano with 2.1 scoreless innings of relief and retired seven of eight batters faced to keep the Chasers within striking distance.

After Will Klein fired a 1-2-3 eighth inning, Castellano walked in the bottom of the eighth and with two outs, Olivares sent a two-run homer to the opposite field, just over the right field fence to tie the score at 4-4.

Klein came back out for the ninth to try and keep the score tied at 4-4 and came one strike away from sending the game to the bottom of the ninth, but with a runner on second, allowed an RBI double, the second of four hits in the span of four batters and a subsequent RBI single put the Saints up by two, 6-4.

Omaha went quietly in the bottom of the ninth, retired in order and the series evened at one win each. The Storm Chasers were held to just five hits, two off the bat of Tyler Gentry.

Jonathan Bowlan heads to the mound Thursday at 6:35 p.m. CT to try and guide the Chasers back into the win column, on 70's Night at Werner Park.
