LOUISVILLE, KY - After a historic loss in last night's series opener, the Louisville Bats (64-56) responded with a 10-7 win over the Toledo Mud Hens (56-65) on Wednesday night.

Jose Barrero doubled his previous career high in RBIs, driving in six runs with a 3-for-5 day at the plate that included a pair of home runs and a three-run double. Jason Vosler also kept his hot hitting going, recording a double and two RBIs while Drew Mount tied a career-high with three hits.

The Mud Hens kicked off the scoring in the second inning, totaling four runs off a pair of home runs to take the early lead.

Barrero put the Bats on the board in the bottom of the fourth with a solo shot to cut the lead to three, but Toledo tallied another run in the following inning from a throwing error at third with two runners on base to maintain a four-run lead.

Like Tuesday night, Louisville battled back after the early deficit. The Bats began the inning with singles from Jacob Hurtubise and Nick Senzel, both of which crossed the plate thanks to Vosler's bases-clearing double. Vosler himself wouldn't stay on base long, as Barrero launched his second homer of the game and knotted the game at 5-5.

The tie wouldn't last long as the Mud Hens' third homer of the game allowed them to regain the lead at 6-5 in the top of the seventh.

With the game staying in back-and-forth fashion, Senzel started the home half of the seventh with a double and advanced to third on an error. Mount brought in Senzel on a liner up the middle for his third hit on the night before Jhonny Pereda smoked an RBI double to bring Mount in for a 7-6 lead, the first of the ballgame for the Bats.

After loading the bases in the eighth, Barrero gave the Bats some much-needed insurance, lofting a three-run double over the head of the Toledo left fielder to put Louisville up 10-6.

Though the Mud Hens got a run back in the ninth, Alan Busenitz (2-2, 2.63 ERA) got the final three outs to secure the win for the Bats.

Chasen Shreve (1-0, 5.40 ERA) picked up his first win in a Bats uniform while Alec Mills (1-1, 5.85 ERA), Kevin Herget (2-3, 4.97 ERA), and Ricky Karcher (5-3, 5.96 ERA) pieced together scoreless outings in relief.

Right-hander Christian Roa (0-3, 6.89 ERA) draws the start for Louisville against Toledo southpaw Joey Wentz (2-1, 3.80 ERA) in tomorrow's contest, Thursday, August 24, with first pitch slated for 6:35 pm E.T. at Louisville Slugger Field.
