Memphis Drops Extra-Inning Game at Charlotte Wednesday Night

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds continued a six-game road trip with a 4-3 extra-inning loss at the Charlotte Knights at Truist Park on Wednesday night.
Right fielder Moises Gomez continued his hot start to the series in the loss. The right-handed slugger tied the game with a single in the sixth inning and gave Memphis a brief lead with his 26th home run of the season in the top of the eighth. Gomez finished the night 2-for-5 with a run scored, a home run and two RBI.
Three other Redbirds batters finished the night with a 2-for-5 effort. Center fielder Matt Koperniak, second baseman Cesar Prieto and third baseman Nick Dunn each added a multi-hit effort to their respective stellar seasons.
Right-handed pitcher Adam Kloffenstein made his third start and fourth appearance since joining the Memphis Redbirds at the trade deadline. Kloffenstein allowed two runs on three hits, walked four and struck out two in 4.0 innings of work.
The Redbirds (60-62) return to AutoZone Park on Tuesday, August 29 to begin a six-game homestand at 6:45p.m. CDT against the Gwinnett Stripers.
