ROUND ROCK, Texas - On the heels of a historic accomplishment, Round Rock Express OF Kyle Tucker has been named to the 2019 All-Pacific Coast League Team. The top prospect in the Houston Astros organization became the fifth player in the 116-year history of the PCL to record a 30-30 season by stealing his 30th base of the year on Saturday afternoon.
Tucker has posted a career season with the Express in 2019, setting new personal bests in a variety of offensive categories, including home runs (32), RBI (94), runs scored (89), total bases (247) and walks (57). Overall, he is hitting to a .267 batting average (119-445) with 26 doubles and three triples.
He currently leads all PCL players with 30 stolen bases on the year. His 32 homers are also fifth-most in the league while his 94 RBI rank seventh. Tucker is among league leaders in extra-base hits, ranking sixth in the category with 61, as well as total bases, where he ranks 10th with 247.
With his first career nomination, Tucker became the fourth different player in Express franchise history to earn a spot on the All-PCL Team, joining RHP R.J. Alvarez (2018), OF Willie Calhoun (2017) and RHP Jon Edwards (2015). In addition to earning back-to-back Houston Astros Minor League Player of the Year awards in 2017 and 2018, Tucker has also been named a PCL All-Star each of the last two seasons. Earlier this year, he was named the PCL Player of the Month for May.
The Tampa, Florida native was originally drafted fifth overall by the Houston Astros in the first round of the 2015 MLB Draft. The 22-year-old made his major league debut a year ago after parts of just four seasons within the club's farm system. He is currently ranked as the top prospect in the Astros organization, and the #13 prospect in baseball, by MLB.com.
Tucker and the first-place Round Rock Express open a four-game series against the second-place San Antonio Missions (Milwaukee Brewers affiliate) on Monday night at Dell Diamond. Express RHP Jose Urquidy (4-3, 5.04) is scheduled to face Missions RHP Shelby Miller (1-1, 3.12). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
