Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - The Pacific Coast League announced today that Salt Lake Bees slugger Jared Walsh has been named to the 2019 All-PCL Team at designated hitter.

Walsh, 26, is in his second season with Salt Lake and has also played in four different stints with the Los Angeles Angels this season. He ranks in the top five in the PCL in several offensive categories including batting average (.328, 4th), home runs (34, 4th), on-base percentage (.430, 3rd), slugging percentage (.695, 2nd), OPS (1.125, 2nd) and extra-base hits (63, 5th). Walsh has also appeared as a relief pitcher in 12 games for the Bees this season with a 2.25 ERA.

The former Georgia Bulldog has two games this season with three home runs, joining Bernardo Brito (1994) as the only players to accomplish the feat in franchise history. He has already set a record for most home runs by a left-handed batter, passing David Ortiz' mark of 30 and trails only Mark Trumbo (36) for most homers in a single-season in Salt Lake history. Walsh becomes the first Salt Lake player to be named to the All-PCL team since Brennan Boesch in 2014, who was also honored at DH.

The Bees are on the final road trip of the season before returning to Smith's Ballpark on Friday, Aug. 30 for a four-game homestand at Smith's Ballpark to finish the 2019 PCL season. Salt Lake hosts Reno at 6:35 on Friday with fireworks postgame to start the homestand.
