Newfoundland Growlers News Release

The Newfoundland Growlers took down the Cincinnati Cyclones for the second time in as many nights with a hard fought 6-3 win on Saturday night at Mary Brown's Centre.

Lukas Craggs opened the scoring for Cincinnati 99 seconds into the game as he was spotted open at the backdoor by Luc Brown, making no mistake to put the Cyclones ahead 1-0 early.

Orrin Centazzo replied for the Growlers late in the 1st as he one-timed home a great feed from Riley McCourt from a tight angle to make it 1-1 after the opening 20 minutes.

Zach O'Brien grabbed a lead for Newfoundland late into the middle frame as he walked off the wall on the man advantage and sniped one near side over the shoulder of Mark Sinclair to put the Growlers up 2-1 with 6:48 left in the 2nd.

Jeremy McKenna snatched a powerplay goal of his own three minutes later as O'Brien spotted the Summerside sniper in the slot where McKenna blasted one beyond Sinclair to make it 3-1 Newfoundland.

Zack Andrusiak got the Cyclones back within a single before the end of the second period as he brust down the left wing and wristed one past the glove of Angus Redmond to cut it to 3-2 Growlers with 20 minutes to play.

Centazzo made an instant impact to open the 3rd period as Ben Finkelstein showed some impressive edge work before spotting Centazzo for a one-timed slot shot which went in off the goal post to put Newfoundland up 4-2 just 12 seconds into the final frame.

Andrusiak joined the two-goal club less than a minute later as he finished off a Cyclones 2-on-1 rush to bring it back to a one goal deficit with the Growlers up 4-3 with 18:53 left in regulation.

Isaac Johnson regained the Growlers two goal lead with a brilliant individual effort, deking out Sinclair and finishing on the backhand to make it 5-3 Newfoundland with 2:18 left to go.

Centazzo would seal his hat-trick and a 6-3 Newfoundland victory with an empty netter 36 seconds before the final whistle.
