Oklahoma City Barons News Release

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Oklahoma City Barons clinched a berth in the 2015 Calder Cup Playoffs with a 4-0 win over the Chicago Wolves Saturday night at Allstate Arena.

Oklahoma City's Matt Ford led all skaters with four points on a goal and three assists, while Barons goalie Laurent Brossoit stopped all 38 shots he faced to earn his third shutout of the season in his first start since being reassigned to Oklahoma City by the Edmonton Oilers on Friday.

In winning what was their final road game of the season, the Barons qualified for their fifth consecutive trip to the AHL's Calder Cup Playoffs and are currently in sixth place in the Western Conference and third in the West Division with three games remaining.

After failing to score in Friday's loss at Iowa, the Barons got on the board just 34 seconds into Saturday's game when Brad Hunt grabbed a Ford pass near the Chicago blue line and rifled a slap shot from just beyond the left circle that sailed over the blocker of Wolves goalie Matt Climie.

Also assisting on Hunt's goal was defenseman Nick Pageau, who notched his first career AHL goal and multi-point game at 5:08 of the first, netting a shorthanded score for Oklahoma City by grabbing a Ford pass and blasting a slap shot from the right circle past Climie.

Ford tallied his third point of the night at 16:07 of the first, when he deflected a shot from the point by Joey LaLeggia through Climie's pads to give the Barons a 3-0 lead. With an assist on the power play goal, LaLeggia earned his first career AHL point.

Fifty-one seconds later, with OKC's Brad Winchester serving a slashing call, passes from Ford to Ryan Hamilton put the puck on the stick of Jordan Oesterle, who extended the Barons' lead to 4-0 by netting the team's second shorthanded goal of the period. Following the goal, Jordan Binnington replaced Climie in net for Chicago.

Following a scoreless second period, Andrew Miller added a power play goal for the Barons at 4:42 of the third to increase Oklahoma City's lead to 5-0.

Chicago outshot Oklahoma City 38-26 for the game, with the Wolves failing to convert on seven power play opportunities. The Barons converted two of three power play chances.

The Barons are back in action Tuesday, April 14, when they face the Hamilton Bulldogs in a 7 p.m. start at the Cox Convention Center.
