
Devils Stumble against Wolf Pack

HARTFORD, CT -- Raman Hrabarenka scored and Scott Clemmensen made 21 saves, but the Albany Devils lost, 2-1, against the Hartford Wolf Pack Saturday at XL Center. The Devils were unable to make up any ground in their push for a spot in the Calder Cup Playoffs. With four games remaining, Albany (77 pts.) trail the Portland Pirates and the Springfield Falcons (83 pts.) by six points.
The Devils, who entered the weekend with six wins in their last seven games, have dropped two straight regulation games for the first time since Feb. 15-20. They move to 33-28-5-6. Having already clinched a playoff berth, the Wolf Pack improve to 40-23-5-4.
Hartford grabbed a 1-0 lead at 8:53 of the first when Nick Tarnasky setup Chad Nehring at 8:53.
The Devils responded in the second period. Darcy Zajac carried the puck deep into the offensive zone and fed Hrabarenka at the point. The 22-year-old unloaded a bomb from between the face-off dots to tie the game.
Just over 10 minutes later, Oscar Lindberg looked off a Devils defenseman and beat Clemmensen five-hole at 14:08 for the game-winning goal.
Hartford netminder Yann Danis picked up his 15th win, making 15 saves. Albany owned a 26-23 shot advantage.
Notables
Raman Hrabarenka, who was returned on loan by New Jersey Friday -- a day after making his NHL debut, registered his career-high ninth goal ... The Devils were successful on all five penalty kills. They are 27-27 during the last seven games.
