Portland Pirates News Release
Saco, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced that they have recalled forwards Greg Carey and Dan O'Donoghue from their ECHL affiliate, the Gwinnett Gladiators. The Arizona Coyotes have also reassigned forward Laurent Dauphin to Portland.
Carey, a 6-foot, 195 pound left wing from Hamilton, Ontario, has played 29 games for Portland this season, scoring two goals and four assists for six points. With Gwinnett this season, the 25 year-old rookie has played 30 games and scored 15 goals and 12 assists for 27 points. He was signed to a one-year entry level contract by the Arizona Coyotes in March of 2014 after completing a four-year college career with the St. Lawrence University Saints.
O'Donoghue, a 6-foot-5, 210 pound center from Port Jefferson, New York, has played in 16 games with the Pirates this season, registering two penalty minutes. In 23 games with the Gladiators, the 24 year-old rookie has scored four goals and four assists for eight points. O'Donoghue was signed to a two-year entry level contract by the Arizona Coyotes in April of 2014 after completing a four-year college career with the Mercyhurst University Lakers.
Dauphin, a 6-foot, 180 pound center from Repentigny, Quebec, joins the Pirates after being reassigned by the Arizona Coyotes from the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the QMJHL on Wednesday. The 20 year-old scored 31 goals and 44 assists for 75 points in his final major junior season. In five QMJHL playoff games, Dauphin scored five goals and three assists for eight points before his team was eliminated. An Arizona Coyotes 2nd Round NHL Entry Draft selection in 2013, Dauphin was a healthy scratch in Portland's 3-2 shootout defeat last night in Manchester against the Monarchs.
