Pigs four-game winning streak comes to end

(Allentown, Pa) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (36-42) four-game winning streak came to an end on Thursday evening as the Buffalo Bisons (46-32) won 9-7. The Bisons broke a 5-5 tie in the top of the ninth inning, as they scored four runs to take the lead. Tyler White, Richard Urena, Christian Colon, and Kellin Deglan all with RBIs in the inning for Buffalo.

Buffalo got a run against Mark Appel in the top of the first inning as Colon hit an RBI single to score Otto Lopez. Lehigh Valley answered with two runs against Nick Allgeyer in the bottom of the first inning as Mickey Moniak hit an RBI triple and Matt Vierling hit an RBI single.

The Bisons took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth inning against Appel as Deglin hit a two-run home run. It was his first home run of the season. Darick Hall tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning when he hit an RBI double against Allgeyer.

Lehigh Valley jumped ahead 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Moniak hit a go-ahead RBI double against Jeremy Beasley. Urena tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the seventh inning when he hit an RBI double against Braeden Ogle. It was Ogle's first run allowed in just his second appearance for Lehigh Valley.

A bunt single by Charlie Tilson and a throwing error by pitcher Tommy Milone in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Lehigh Valley a 5-4 lead. Cullen Large powered his fifth home run of the season in the top of the eighth inning against Braden Zarbnisky (1-1) to tie the game at 5-5.

The Pigs were able to get two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Nick Maton hit an RBI triple and Moniak added a sacrifice fly. Hobie Harris (4-2) earned the win for Buffalo as he pitched a scoreless inning.

The IronPigs and Bisons play again on Friday evening at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
