Buffalo Bisons News Release

After losing five straight games, the Bisons rebounded at Coca-Cola Park on Thursday night with a 9-7 victory over the IronPigs. Buffalo struck for four runs in the ninth and scored in each of the last three innings to win the back-and-forth affair and end Lehigh Valley's four-game win streak.

With the game tied at five heading into the 9th, Forrest Wall led off the Bisons. After hitting a single, the speedy Wall stole second base, putting the winning run in scoring position for Buffalo. Otto Lopez then worked a walk, joining Wall on base. Tyler White delivered for the Herd, doubling into left field to give the Bisons a one-run lead.

With runners still on second and third, and no outs, Richard Urena singled to right field, scoring Lopez from third. Buffalo managed to score two more runs behind the bats of Colon Large and Kellin Deglan, giving the Herd a commanding four-run lead.

Travis Bergen took the mound for the Bisons just three outs away from a win. Following the trend of the game, Lehigh battled back in the bottom of the 9th, scoring two runs, but Bergen got the job done, snapping the Herd's five-game losing streak.

The game was also tied at three heading into the bottom of the fifth before the IronPigs took the advantage. Leading off the inning with a double, Charlie Tilson put himself in scoring position with no outs. Jeremy Beasley was able to strike out the next two batters for the Herd, but Mickey Moniak doubled to center field, scoring Tilson from second to give Lehigh Valley a 4-3 lead over Buffalo.

Trailing by one in the top of the 7th, the Bisons knew they were running out of time to rally. Lopez worked a walk with one out, putting the tying run on base for the Herd. Urena made the difference for Buffalo, hitting a double down the right-field line. The two out-double scored Lopez and the two teams were tied heading into the bottom of the 7th.

Sal Gozzo led off for the IronPigs and bunted for a base hit. Gozzo moved to second on a throwing error committed by Urena, putting the tying run in scoring position for Lehigh Valley. Tilson also laid down a bunt, and the throw from Christian Colon was also wild, allowing Gozzo to score. The back-to-back bunt singles from the IronPigs gave the rival club a 5-4 lead over the Bisons.

Large battled right back for the Herd in the top of the 8th. Leading off the inning, Large homered over the center-field fence, tying the game at five.

White stayed hot for the Herd in this one, continuing his hitting streak to five games with a two-out double in the top of the 5th. The veteran went 2-for-4 at the plate, knocking in one run in the club's win.

After being traded from the New York Yankees organization to the Blue Jays organization on August 3rd, Deglan appeared in his first game with the Bisons on Thursday night. The veteran batted 2-for-3, adding three runs batted in.

The Bisons (47-31) and IronPigs (36-42) play again on Friday night for the fourth game of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm. Bowden Francis is scheduled to start on the mound for Buffalo.
