CHESTER, Pa. - The Philadelphia Union hosted Club America in the second leg of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night, falling 2-0. With the loss, the Union are eliminated with America moving on, on 4-0 aggregate. The first half remained scoreless with the Union and America both recording five shots. The Union were awarded a penalty kick in the 49th minute but did not convert. Nicolas Benedetti opened the scoring in the 79th minute to put America ahead 3-0 on aggregate. Late in the 93rd minute, Henry Martin found the back of the net, assisted by Mauro Laínez.
The Union will be back home for MLS play on September 19th where they will face Orlando City SC (4:00 p.m. ET / ESPN).
