The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins took five of a possible six points this past weekend, moving the team into first place in the entire American Hockey League.

The Penguins dropped a 6-5 overtime decision to the Toronto Marlies on Friday night, before posting wins against the Philadelphia Phantoms (7-1 on Saturday at home) and the Syracuse Crunch (3-2 Sunday in Syracuse).

The successful stretch gives the Pens a 20-4-2-2 record, good for 44 points and first place overall. The Penguins also have the top road record in the AHL, with an 11-2-1-2 mark for 25 points.

HOME HIGHLIGHT

The Penguins' 7-1 win against the Phantoms on December 16 at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza was the 150th home victory in team history.

BRODZIAK'S BEST

Penguins forward Kyle Brodziak picked up a career-best four points (2+2=4) to lead Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to a 7-1 win against the Philadelphia Phantoms on Saturday night. His previous best offensive output was a three-assist effort on against the Chicago Wolves on April 11 last season while a member of the Iowa Stars.

Brodziak also netted two goals in a game for the first time in his career Saturday against the Phantoms. One of those tallies was the game-winning goal, Brodziak's third winner of the season, tied for first on the team.

BONVIE BETTERS KOCI

Dennis Bonvie appeared in his 195th game as a member of the Penguins on Saturday night against the Philadelphia Phantoms, moving him past David Koci and into 14th place on the team's all-time games played list.

Bonvie is also the AHL's active leader in career games played with 782, good for 29th place on the league's all-time list. He trails Zellio Toppazzini by three games for 28th place.
