Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks and CURE Childhood Cancer Association announced their partnership agreement for the 2007 National Lacrosse League season. The Knighthawks and CURE held a kick-off event today at the Build-A-Bear Workshop® location at Eastview Mall to unveil their plans for a Teddy Bear Auction on Saturday, February 24th to benefit CURE. At the media event, Knighthawks John Grant and Pat Cougevan constructed the first two animals for the event. Members of the Knightingales dance team also built a bear for charity. Further, children from CURE created new furry friends to take home with them.

The bears are the first of 23 that members of the Knighthawks/Knightingales will build from December to January at the Build-A-Bear Workshop® at Eastview Mall. On February 24th, fans can bid on the individually autographed creations at a silent auction at the Knighthawks-Arizona Sting game at The Blue Cross Arena. Build-A-Bear Workshop will also donate a bear signed by the entire team to help with the charitable event.

"CURE Childhood Cancer Association is excited to a part of this fantastic Knighthawks event. Because cancer has a considerable impact on every member of the family we are grateful to the Knighthawks team and the fans for supporting CURE's programs," said Mary Gallis, Associate Director of CURE Childhood Cancer Association. "To know someone is caring goes a long way in easing the pain. Thank you to the Knighthawks and the fans!"

"We are excited to be working with CURE this season and look to make the Teddy Bear Auction an annual event. The Knighthawks organization and its players look forward to the special event and raising money for a charity that supports local children and their families," said Craig Rybczynski, Knighthawks Director or Communications. "We would also like to thank Build-A-Bear Workshop® for their support and cooperation."
