LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

At Portland (12/15): Center Tim Brent scored a goal and collected two assists as the Portland Pirates topped the Manchester Monarchs, 3-1, at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Friday night. Right wing Konstantin Pushkarev scored the lone goal for the Monarchs. Right wing Pierre Parenteau and forward Ryan Carter tallied for the Pirates. Monarchs goaltender Jason LaBarbera took his 10th loss of the season stopping 17 shots. Pirates netminder Nathan Marsters earned the win with 24 saves. Manchester went 0-for-2 on the power play. Portland was 1-for-4 with the man advantage.

At Worcester (12/16): Left wing Matt Moulson scored twice to lead the Manchester Monarchs over the Worcester Sharks, 3-2, at the DCU Center on Saturday night. Right wing Konstantin Pushkarev scored his fourth tally of the season for the game-winner. The Sharks collected goals from center Tom Cavanagh and defenseman Garrett Stafford. Monarchs goaltender Jason LaBarbera earned the win with 27 saves. Sharks netminder Nolan Schaefer took the loss stopping 19 shots. Manchester went 1-for-4 on the power play. Worcester was 1-for-7 with the man advantage.

Vs. Hartford (12/17): Center Patrick O'Sullivan scored twice and goaltender Jason LaBarbera stopped 29-of-30 shots to lift the Manchester Monarchs over the Hartford Wolf Pack, 2-1, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Sunday evening. Center Brandon Dubinsky scored the lone goal for the Wolf Pack. Hartford's netminder Stephen Valiquette took the loss with 23 saves. Manchester went 2-for-3 on the power play. Hartford was 1-for-5 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Monarchs (14-9-5-1) are in second place in the Atlantic Division with 34 points.

Manchester has a home record of 9-4-4-0 and a road record of 5-5-1-1.

The Monarchs power play is ranked seventh in the AHL after 29 games with a 20.1-percent man advantage scoring percentage. Manchester has scored 32 goals on 159 opportunities so far this season with the man advantage

Manchester's penalty kill is ranked 21st in the league after letting in 32 goals on 158 situations when the team has been down a man for a 79.7 percentage.

The Monarchs are currently on a four-game win streak at home, winning four games at the Verizon Wireless Arena since December 3.

Manchester is also unbeaten in regulation on home ice in their last 10 games with a record of 7-0-3-0.

Left wing Noah Clarke leads the Monarchs in scoring with 21 points (10-11=21).

Clarke's ten goals are tied for the team lead with center Patrick O'Sullivan.

Clarke is tied with center Michael Cammalleri (71) on the all-time goals scored category for the Monarchs with 71 apiece. The 5-foot-9, 192-pound native of LaVerne, California, has 71 goals in 228 Monarchs games from 2002-2006. Clarke has not scored a goal in the last 10 games.

Clarke is in first place on the Monarchs all-time list with 23 power play goals.

O'Sullivan (10-8=18) is in third place in scoring for the Monarchs.

Sunday's game against the Hartford Wolf Pack was O'Sullivan's 100th AHL game with the Houston Aeros and Monarchs. He scored both goals in the Monarchs 2-1 win.

Defenseman T.J. Kemp leads Manchester's blueliners with 19 points (2-17=19) and is ranked second on the Monarchs squad in scoring.

Kemp is also ranked sixth among AHL defensemen with 19 points.

Rookie Kemp also leads the Monarchs in assists with 17.

Left wing Matt Moulson (7-8=15) is tied for fourth on the Monarchs roster with defenseman Peter Harrold (2-13=15) with 15 points apiece.

Right wing Konstantin Pushkarev (4-9=13) recorded a three-game goal scoring streak from December 9 through December 16, the longest of his professional career.

Pushkarev is currently on a six-game scoring streak collecting six points (4-2=6) in his last six games, the longest scoring streak by a Monarchs player this season.

Sunday's game was Pushkarev's 100th professional game. He's played in 99 games with the Monarchs and one game with the Los Angeles Kings over the last two seasons (2005-present).

Left wing Jeff Giuliano collected his 50th assist with the Monarchs on Saturday night against the Worcester Sharks. He's played in 233 Monarchs games over the last five seasons and has recorded 75 points (25-50=75).

Goaltender Jason LaBarbera ranks second in the league among minutes played with 1,469 minutes in 25 games.

LaBarbera is ranked second in the AHL in the saves category with 745 on the season.

LaBarbera is also second in the league with a save-percentage of .929 and he is seventh among goaltenders with a goals-against-average of 2.33.

LaBarbera has played in 210 AHL games with the Monarchs and Wolf Pack. He has a record of 105-65-20, a goals-against-average of 2.16 and a save-percentage of .926 in 11,650 minutes of work between the pipes and 5,239 saves in the AHL.
