Pats Select Goaltender With 6th Round Pick

Calgary, Alberta - With their 6th round selection in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft, the Regina Pats have selected goaltender Cory Nygaard, 127th overall.

Nygaard, the native of Winnipeg, MB played this past season with the Winnipeg Monarchs of the Manitoba Bantam AAA League. In 19 games with the Monarchs, Nygaard posted a .927 save percentage and 1.96 goals-against average, to go along with 2 shutouts.

"Cory is a quick, athletic goalie who finds pucks in traffic" offered Pats Head Scout Todd Ripplinger. "He is technically sound and has a very quick glove. He went undefeated in league play last season with the Monarchs."

Former 6th round picks of the Pats include: Craig Schira, Derek Hulak and Derek Reinhart.
