Blades Draft Siemens

May 1, 2008 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release

The Saskatoon Blades, in the pick that they acquired from the Prince George Cougars in the 2006/07 Devin Setoguchi trade, have selected defenseman Duncan Siemens. Meanwhile, with their own 6th overall pick, they have selected center Brent Benson.

Siemens, a 6'0", 183 pound product of Sherwood Park, AB, was born on September 11th, 1993.

"Duncan is a big, punishing defenseman who can really skate," commented Blades Assistant General Manager Jarrod Brodsky. "He has good puck skills and we obviously felt that he was the best defenseman available at the time of our selection.

Benson, a 5'11", 171 pound from Weyburn, SK, was born on April 13th, 1993.

"Brent is a kid who we've watched closely all season and we feel is a powerful skater who plays with an edge," said Brodsky. "He has a really good skill set and played extremely well at the prestigious Mac's Tournament in Calgary, AB with the Moose Jaw AAA Warriors."

The Saskatoon Blades organization is extremely proud to welcome Duncan, Brent, and their families to the organization.
